January Cheryl’s Gone: Mike Scalise, Gerald Maa, Chris Nealon & Fall Catalogue

THURSDAY the 21 st, 8 PM

Big Bear Cafe

1st & R NW

Okay. So Wade and I are behind. Due to stuff. So we’re still putting press materials together. So here are some bios I made up:

Mike Scalise drives a dump truck and has muscles for teeth. He writes nonfiction and will read nonfiction.

Chris Nealon invented the maser. Not the laser. Look it up. Poems?

Gerald Maa has the tallest hair in the University of Maryland English Department. He writes and translates poems and makes a mean egg sandwich.

Fall Catalogue is music by squirrels.

Now how can you not come?

Squirrels, yes, but very well trained squirrels. Sonya, our pianist, studied musicology. Tom studied jazz or something, and plays. On a guitar. Both are music educators by day. But neither fights crime at night in an imaginatively tailored bodysuit. Mostly they just sleep. Me, I studied writing poetry. That’s why I don’t have a job, and I have to raise squirrels in the neighbors’ treehouse for food and musical… prodigality. Anyway. Please come to this reading and tip nice so’s I can afford their next round of fleas control.

If you zoom out far enough, metaphorically, what isn’t music by squirrels?

    A. The internet.
